Soft restraint

£26.50

This piece explores the monstrous feminine through the tension between vulnerability and restraint. The bound hands, tied with soft pink yarn, suggest both tenderness and control-domestic material transformed into a symbol of confinement. The arms are suspended in a downward pull, mimicking descent, shame, or silencing, while the exposed wound at the wrist hints at resistance beneath submission. The surrounding blue currents feel like a womb yet engulfing, creating an ambiguous space between birth and suffocation. Here, femininity is not passive, it is contained, disciplined, and made “monstrous” through the very structures that attempt to bind it.
